Sorticulture is a three-day celebration of Pacific Northwest outdoor living. Held at Legion Park, and overlooking the Salish Sea, Sorticulture has become the premier festival for garden arts. Every year, thousands of people come to Everett to meet artists face-to-face, experience art and unique plants, enjoy live music and relax in a verdant outdoor setting.
As you can imagine, planning a large outdoor event like Sorticulture during the pandemic is challenging. At this time, we are making plans to host Sorticulture in 2021. However, we will only host an event that complies with state and local health guidelines. Your safety is the most important thing to us.
Here are the scenarios we're considering:
The best-case scenario (fingers crossed) is that Sorticulture happens in its proper form, on its usual weekend (June 11-13), at Legion Park. This is what we're planning for right now, though it's probably a little optimistic. That said, preparing for this best-case-scenario allows us to cover the logistical ground needed, but we can scale back if needed.
1) We keep the same location and event format, but postpone Sorticulture until later in the summer.
2) Sorticulture moves venues for 2021 or splits into several "small" events to allow for better social distancing. Legion Park is beautiful, but its intimate setting doesn't allow for much room to spread out.
3) Sorticulture goes virtual. If we do this route, we hope to maintain the direct interaction between artists and patrons.
4) Sorticulture is canceled. This is worst-case scenario.
